When I started researching fish finders, I noticed a pattern.
All the positive reviews and models revolve around three brands: Garmin, Hummingbird and Lowrance.
There are a few others as well, however for most people these brands will supply what you need. Based on hours of research and testing, I have come up with my top 3 recommendations.
Rather than listing off 25 different fish finders, below are the 3 models that I believe will work for most people.
Top 3 Fish Finder Brands
Below are 3 of the best selling models, and the first units to consider.
They area all very similar, however we recommend you visit the official website links for full product specs and features.
Garmin Striker Units
The Garmin Striker 4 is one of the more affordable fish finders on the market today, and one that has received some of the best reviews online.
Even with its lower price tags, the Garmin Striker 4 comes with a lot of important features you’ll need with these types of devices.
You can mark the areas and locations you want to remember all within a very easy to navigate screen. There is high sensitivity GPS which allows you to find fish, and mark the locations.
Garmin has included their CHIRP transducer which provides a very clear and readable screen.
If you’re looking for the same great quality from Garmin, however you want even more features, then consider the Striker 5 models.
For even more features, consider the Garmin Striker 7 models.
Hummingbird 409640 – 1 Helix5 SI
Humminbird is another popular brand which has received some excellent reviews.
Their best selling model is the HELIX 5 SI model which is pretty advanced. It comes with a great GPS system and built in cartography capabilities.
Lowrance 000-12635-001 Hook-3X Sonar
If you’re looking to get a very basic system, and don’t want to spend more than $100, then you should consider some of the lower end models from Lowrance.
Although Lowrance offers higher end units, we found that their products around the 100 dollar range are the best bang for your buck.
