Sea Fishing Tackle Fundamentals for United Kingdom Hook and Line Fishermen
October 14th, 2009 Posted in FishingIf you are thinking about trying your hand at sea fishing inside the UK, you’ll have to buy specially designed sea fishing tackle. Here’s some general information about the type of fishing gear which is vital for starting out.
Sea Fishing Rods
There are in existence two essential sorts of fishing rods for sea fishing: beach casting rods and spinning rods.
The most widely used are the beach casting rods; they are also used more often as salt water fishing tackle. These rods have a length that ranges from 11 to 13 feet. The end of the rod has a fast or very fast taper. Taper is a word that is in reference to how intensely a fishing rod moves or yields when pressure is applied. There are a couple of handle types out there—a coaster clip or a fixed reel seat. If the angler uses coaster clips, he can situate the reel for the most effective casting position and the best distance. Fishing reels used for a beach casting rod will be multiplier of fixed spool.
Despite the fact that people don’t think about spinning rods for fishing for bass, employing them may give an angler a big challenge, specifically when the rod is equipped with tackle that is lightweight. Normally, a spinning rod used in sea fishing will e 8 to 10 feet in length and cast from 1 to 1 ½ ounces. The majority of spinning rods found in the UK are made for the fixed spool fishing reel.
Alternatives Regarding Tackle for Sea Fishing
Sea fishing reels should be loaded with about 250 to 300 yards of line. Pick especially sturdy hooks because of the large amount of impediments that can snag your fishing tackle. Hook size is extremely relevant in sea fishing also. hook sizes start at 32 (for brook trout) and go to 19/0 (for game fish that are large). Here are a few suggestions regarding hook size for various fish species: Flatfish – 1 or 1/0, mackerel – 1/0, bottom fishing – 4/0, pollack – 4/0. Legering is pier or dock sea fishing. If legering, you need to add weights or legers to your fishing gear. With legering, the bait will be lying at the sea bottom. In float fishing, the bait drifts in the water beneath a brightly coloured float that indicates the bait’s position.
Having the right sea fishing tackle could be the aspect that makes your fishing trip a triumph rather than a disaster. The best UK sea anglers would be the ones that show up with each piece of equipment they need to make certain the time allotted to their fishing trips is rewarded.

Thats why I depend on abu garcia reels and rods. They are the best in my opinion. I use the abr6000. It has a smooth cast and you can pick them up pretty cheap on ebay. Of course they are used. Over a year ago I paid less than $50 for a $200 dollar reel. If you want to check them out there are plenty of videos on youtube about the brand. You have a great writing style and your blog is very informative. I will be back.
