Body control: The most important skill in soccer is taking control of your body. When the player is moving about in the field with the ball trying to make his way through the opponents, his control over his body is instrumental in attacking the opposition. But how would you guarantee this talent in each team member? During soccer drills, involve all players in a very exciting game. In this fun activity, the players take their shirts or anything that they can push behind their backs into the shorts acting as their tails. Each player’s job is to now save their tail but grab the other’s. What is interesting is that the ball is not needed for this activity to take place initially. Your team members may do away with their tails and use the ball once they know the significance of the game. Apparently, the soccer coaching drills will develop your players into stars, having dual talent of staying in control of your body and manipulating the ball.
Keeping the ball in the air: This drill will eventually help your team grow into multifaceted professionals. Make the players stand in a circle and you yourself stand the middle of the circle. Pass the ball from one player to another or to and fro between you and the players. The objective is to keep the ball in the air and not allow it to touch the ground at any time. Now here’s the catch, no one should use their hands in this exercise. Involve only your head, feet or knees. To start with, this exercise can be done in large batches but with time, you can introduce smaller batches as well. There are several positive returns from these soccer exercises such as the ability to focus, coordinate, and kick the ball.
Reaction and action: This is another one of numerous free soccer training drills that teaches the players to react quickly and effectively while dealing with the ball. Instruct the players to stand apart from each other with their backs to each other. Choose a player and tell him to stand in the center of the circle. Have this player call names indiscriminately and hit the ball at them. The other player will react as fast as he can, turn around, and control the approaching ball in the best possible way.
