The Best Backpacking Tent
March 5th, 2009 Posted in OutdoorsWhen you really want to get away from it all, there is no better alternative than backpacking. There are those who swear that after backpacking, they are able to understand themselves and life more. Backpacking really cannot be compared to taking a trip in a cruise ship.
The sounds of birds waking you up in the morning and wild animals in the night seems a far cry from the noise in the city. What can be more relaxing than a campfire where everyone tells their own funny stories? It is all romantic until you forget to carry your tent on a rainy night.
Not only is it a good idea to carry a tent it is also wise to choose a good quality tent. You can do with a 3 season tent that is not too heavy to carry such as the kelty teton 2. Even if you decide to carry a simple tent, you should make sure that you choose a tent that is study enough to save you from the bad weather.
Backpacking tents are by their very nature small. This normally has to do with the need to keep the weight low enough for carrying. You have to strike a balance between weight and internal volume. The tent should be light enough to carry and have enough space for a comfortable night.
Times are tough and it seems we are trying to get the best deal in everything that we buy. The best deal sometimes does not translate to a good nights sleep. This is especially true if you are stuck in a storm with a cheap tent that is collapsing. Find a good brand name tent such as Kelty and you are more likely to enjoy your trip.
In the end, all backpacking trips boil down to proper planning. You should plan for the best quality tents and other equipment. That may be the easy part. The hard part is that you can rarely be able to plan for the company you keep.
